FA Cup FINAL

Arsenal v Manchester United

Hua Hin Pool League

With only one regular season game left for most teams, the scene is set for a dramatic finale, especially in Division 1 where four teams are in with a chance of both of the top two positions, and thus passage through to the overall League deciders. Division 2 has known it's champions since last month (U-Turn) but second spot is being contested between Nid's Place and the Ship, with the former holding the advantage but with a tough final game against the champions. Once the final positions are decided there will be playoffs between the champions Division 1 and second placed in Division 2, and vice versa, which will have already been played by publication. The winners of those matches will then play each other, on 11 th May, to decide the overall League champions. All of these matches will be played at neutral venues, to be decided once the teams are known.

Before the League decider will be the Cup and Shield finals, being played in the week commencing 2 nd May, and both will be played at Johnnie Walkers bar, for those wishing to attend – please contact the bar for the exact dates. The Cup Final is between P & P and Octopussy, while the Shield is being contested by Club 99 and U-Turn. On the 18 th and 25 th May the competition for the Top 16 individual players will take place, but the results of that will not be published until the July edition of the Observer. Also planned to take place towards the end of May is the first ever end of season dinner and awards – a report and photographs of all the fun and winners will also be published in July.

UBC AT PALM HILLS

UBC supported by Thai Junior Golfers arranged the UBC International Junior Golf Championship held at Palm Hills Golf and Country Club between 28th March and 1st April. The idea of the competition was to support Thai and international junior golfers, and to give them the chance to play against different nationality players. About 200 golfers joined in the event.

Palm Hills General Manager Mr Nuttawat Aksornchart welcomed VIP guests Mr Prasong Pitoongitja Gover nor of Petchaburi Provinec, Dr Santiparp Teychawanit Governor of Tourism Thailand, Mr Sumpan Jarumilint Chairman of UBC, Dr Gantima Gunchornna Ayudthya Director of Communication of UBC, Dr Irawan Panitwong, who is on the committee and secretary supporting Thai junior golfers in Thailand.

CRICKET TOURNAMENT

The Tenth Hua Hin Cricket Sixes tournament held at the Dusit Resort in April was as a great success. All the teams enjoyed themselves both on and off the pitch. It was great to see old friends, and to meet new players, most of whom said they would be coming back again next year. It was thought that this year's tournament may be the last in Hua Hin, as John Gill has left the Dusit Resort for a new position on Phuket, however new manager Simon Burgess, himself a keen cricketer delighted the teams at the awards dinner when he announced that he was willing to continue the tradition as long as there was a show of support from the teams.

Great cricket played throughout the tournament by Canterbury and Elsterwick.

“I only missed the ball by this much”, says regular Sixes visitor Hendo.

Hopalong Gary getting some much needed rest.

Clive, what could be better than sucking on a can of beer!

Local hopefuls Hopalongs didn't disappoint, they hopped along more than any other team.

Simon usually shows a touch of class behind the stumps, this year it was more than a touch of glass, as he managed to go through a plate glass window. . . and he was sober at the time!
