All fixtures and TV games are correct at time of going to press, but are subject to change. JWS MOTORSPORTJWS ONE YEAR PARTY
The two most enjoyable features of the evening were the special race held for children, where everybody was a winner, and the demonstration race provided by the owner and staff of the circuit, which featured some spectacular both direction racing and some donuts' at the end on the finishing straight. The Sofitel laid on a wonderful spread of food, and all had a good night. Race 6 The Return of VaughanSince the glory days of Hua Hin Today Vaughan Pope has found himself fighting for second place in the 2 hour endurance races. On Sunday 1 st October after some serious practice he was determined to once more take the top step on the podium. His new team included first timers Nick Smithy and Benny Hoiberg and named their team the Underdogs. After qualifying in pole the Underdogs were kept at bay by another new team D-Phone. Their top driver Max, an ex employee of JWS Motorsport fought hard but encountered some problems with their strategy making more driver changes than the rules require. Pushing to the limit throughout the race was the Afterdarkers. They had very kindly offered a place on their team to their friendly local Taxi driver. Whilst a kind and noble gesture as a Hua Hin Taxi driver he was not comfortable unless driving against the traffic! Wayne from Johnnie Walkers bar then began a love affair with the tyre wall near the pits which he felt compelled to drive into on a regular basis. Dave from HHAD put in some good stints to bring his team home in 4 th . The Bygg Max team came an excellent 3 rd place with Jurgen Persson as captain. Jurgen has had success before with the Wee Man Swingers team, a team of fast driving golfers. Bygg Max drove well after a first lap incident where air got into their fuel but did not lose time for it. The day however belonged to the Underdogs with D Phone coming second. Once again Vaughan tasted the victory champagne. NEXT RACE SUNDAY NOVEMBER 27 th Individual Challenge 2005
To ensure fairness and the fact not every driver can be perfect every race only 6 of the 7 races count for championship points. This means your lowest points score through the series will be dropped thus allowing you to have one bad race. To add to the fun cash prizes will be given to the top 4 places at the end of the championship. For the championship winner 5300 baht, for second place 3500 baht for third place 2200 baht and for fourth place 1000 baht. When you consider that entry to the championship is just 5300 this represents great fun with the opportunity to win glory and your money back! Hua Hin Pool LeagueLeague A has seen a change of leader this month with U-Turn establishing a 3 point lead over the consistent, and still draw -less Rose. Lips have dropped points with a defeat and two draws in the last month, leaving them third. Billy's Babes have leaped up the table, with an impressive run of 5 wins and a draw since last month. League B has seen Mondo maintain their position at the head of the order, with very few changes further down the table. With most teams now having played half their matches it will be intriguing to see if anyone can make a second half of the season charge and challenge the top teams. The Toby Charnaud Cup has now reached the semi-final stage, and by next month we will know the finalists. Meanwhile the Shield will have progressed to it's latter stages. Please note that Shield fixtures will be scheduled for Mondays from this point on. The Top 16 individuals table continues to change as more players reach the qualifying point - the new leader is Johnnie from the JW Black team. Week 17 7th March 2006 Cup Final
Week 18 14th March 2006 Top 16 There will be no scheduled games over Christmas and New Year Hua Hin Hash House HarriersDo you long to have intimate contact with scenery such as that portrayed here. You can amble through, paddle in, climb up, fall into, take in the variety of countryside odours and in general to feel part of it. You can do all that and much more if you come along and join with the Hua Hin Hash House Harriers--H2H3 on their bi-weekly runs. RUN No 53 Saturday 17 September This run, which commenced on the Pala U road, was hared by Chivasom's very own Terry Birge who gave up precious golfing time to devote to the hash cause. Unfortunately, a deluge on the morning of the run obliterated most of the route markings placed the previous day. As a result, Ballbanger had to guide the walkers along the trail with the runners left to the own devices. Needless to say a certain amount of confusion reigned with some runners completing the course later than anticipated in semi darkness. The lead runner this time was Dry Pool Diver, the young son of Hollowlegs who opted to ignore the lead of his supposedly more knowledgeable elders. In spite of the poor lighting conditions in the circle at the end of the run, the hashers managed to feel their way into the cool box for the ample supply of cold beer. A later repast was taken at the Chicken Coop in Cha Am. RUN No 54 Saturday 1 October Bo Fai shooting range was the scene of this run. No fatalities were recorded however, possibly due to the hashers being watched over by the Golden Buddha on the nearby surrounding hills. The hares were Ballbanger and Slackbladder pleased to be back from the UK cold to the warmth of Hua Hin. For once the runners outnumbered the walkers, so a fast pace was expected through the pastures and woodland. Murphy's Law however took a hand to slow down the run when a local farmer decided to plough over some of the shredded paper and flour markings. In spite of some hesitation, lost runners and Dragontail getting impaled on barbed wire fencing, the run was completed within the hour by the fast boys. The circle after the run included the celebration of Dragontail's 29th? 30ish? 40ish birthday. This was followed by excellent good value food and beer at Mr Burger and Steak, Butchers Shop Restaurant near Soi 6/1 on Petkasem Road .
