Fit for Golf
Something that is omitted from golf training is correct breathing. Good breathing techniques whilst playing shots can help to limit tension in the body and get you to swing more smoothly. If you have ever stood in front of a 100-yard stretch of water and felt butterflies in your stomach you now know what tension is. When the adrenaline starts to pump more than normal around the body the muscles go into a “flight or fight” mode. This is our natural survival instinct. The idea is to get away from the situation not to try to choose the right club. What happens more often than not is the fluidity of the body seizes up and the speed of the swing increases with the outcome being a bad shot. Time to get another ball out of the bag. Sound familiar? So what can be done to limit the chance of tearing into the shot and seeing one more ball disappear from sight?
When playing a shot try to link your breathing to the momentum of the swing. Breathing out on the backswing will help the muscles to relax and improve range of movement. But breathing out as you downswing and strike the ball will also keep the tightness out of the swing. A bit of experimentation will tell you what works best for you. Start by making small backswings and increase to your normal range of movement.
The way we breathe is also vital. If you are stressed or rushed then you will tend to breath from the top part of the chest. To bring more air into the body and to develop better control over your chest and rib muscles the breath should go further into the chest. This is called diaphragmatic breathing. To test to see where the air flows in, just stand in front of a mirror and watch the ribcage. Do the shoulders rise? If so follow the simple exercises to improve oxygen intake and help relax into your golf shots.
Lie on your back with knees bent to 90o. Place the back in neutral. To see if the ribcage moves correctly, place the hands on the side of the ribs at the lower part of the ribcage. Breathe in and push the hands out with the ribs. This may take a few attempts but eventually the diaphragm will start to function better and breathing will improve. Lying down is for comfort. When the technique is perfected on the floor then try it standing. After that, move on to breathing in this way while swinging your clubs.
To go one further, stand with feet apart, back straight (neutral) and hands clasped behind the back. Inhale and pull navel to spine, don't move spine. As you breathe out roll the shoulders back and drop the hands to the floor. Hold for two breaths and repeat three to five times.

One Course 4 Styles
LAKE VIEW LAUNCH NEW 9 HOLES: The Imperial Lake View Hotel and Golf Club became the first 36 hole golf course in the region with the grand opening of their new 9 holes on Saturday 16th of December.
Ronald Fream designed the new nine with a links feel, long and wide with only one water hole, sounds too easy! Forget it, this is a course for long powerful hitters, you need to hit a good drive, and be accurate with the long irons to get on to the tricky green in regulation. The new 9 beautifully compliments Lake View's other three styles of layout designed by Roger Packard, Mountain, Lake and Desert.
Mr Fream with over 30 years experience in his green fingers, he has a solid reputation as a designer who has worked in nearly 60 countries, he can be proud of his work here.
Khun Nitaya Jutamart, President of TCC Hotels Management Co. Ltd and Khun Rachane Dangrojana General Manager at the course invited guests to play and enjoy the new nine holes. The hospitality and planning of the event was first rate, matched by the spectacular new layout. Professionals, regular golfers and hackers alike all enjoyed their day out.
Lake View also offers 70 superior rooms and 5 suites with course or mountain views, first class dining, swimming pool and other facilities are available to guests.
