The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of America is taking steps to remove phenylpropanolamine from all drug products and has requested that all drug companies discontinue marketing products containing PPA. Many over the counter and prescription cough and cold medicines contain PPA as well as decongestant and weight loss products. BEWARE PPA increases the risk of hemorhagic stroke in women, men are less at risk.
Some Alka Seltzer products contain PPA for the full list of products and more information check out this website for the latest information - http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/ppa/default.htm
For people who like the taste of real Isaan food, you will be pleased to know that a very authentic restaurant "Sai Yai" has opened in Cha Am, sit on the floor or at a table and enjoy your Som Tam hot and spicy - as it should be, to classic northern Thai music.Opposite the top end of Soi Tour Bus.
Mr Robert Kaye, principal of Trifecta Holdings Inc of Atlanta, Georgia, has issued a warning about a Thai national who has defrauded him, she has links with a Palestinian man, who has ties to shadowy groups, possibly terrorist organisations. If you need more information contact Mr Kaye on trifectaholdings@aol.com
This is the kite flying season and towards the end of the month there will be kite fighting down in Prachuabkhirikhan, keep your eyes open for posters and flyers.
The round-up continues on unlicensed taxi vans and tuk tuks. A ride in a tuk tuk is part of the fun of Thailand, but it's much better if it's safe!
There are no holidays or festivals this month, don't worry, April makes up for it with 6 days!
If you like local produce, go up to Golden Place near the His Majesty the King's palace on Petchkasem Road, open every day with goodies from various Royal Projects. At weekends there is also an outdoor market, where you will find excellent products at bargain prices.
Classic British comedy videos are shown at Taxi Jack's for those in need of a laugh.
Luciano has promised (sort of) another night of Irish music at his restaurant, 9th March, check at Luciano's in Selakam Road for full details. The last event of it's kind was great fun.
