This month's sports news.

Thai-Gers Not Quite Good Enough!

Local ladies football team The Thai-Gers challenged the lads from Hinchester Utd, to a “serious” beach football match.
The game seemed of secondary importance as the picnic was laid out on the beach at Suan Son. It was obviously power food for the girls as they took to the pitch with a passion, the men’s team found themselves leaping to avoid the flying tackles of the ladies.
Pre match, the men’s team were confident of an easy victory when they heard the Thai-Gers summer signing was their first “farang” - a Scottish goalkeeper. Sue proved the “Football Focus” pundits wrong with a string of fine saves. With the score standing at 9-7 to the boys, the game was abandoned due to worries that the ice cooling the cans of beer was begining to melt.

CRICKET TEST MATCH AT THE DUSIT AUSSIES TRIUMPH OVER WORLD XI

It was good to see some cricket played at the Dusit Resort and Polo Club last month, when players mainly from Bangkok and a few local lads played a 2 day 2 innings match Australia vs Rest of the World.
The rain kept away until the last session. The food was excellent and the beer was cold, so what more could cricketers and supporters ask for.
As in the real world the Aussies won, but only just!

AUGUST’s F1
3rd GERMAN - HOCKENHEIM

Course Details Circuit length: 6.823 km No of laps: 45 Race distance: 307.022 km Lap record: Michael
Schumacher, Ferrari, 2002, 1min 16.462

History Hockenheim is one of the longer world championship circuits. It is extremely fast with two distinct sections - the stadium complex with the track twisting in front of the grandstands and pit/paddock area, and then the flowing section through the forest. Chicanes have been added but this is a very fast and exciting circuit, demanding also in terms of car set-up.

Hockenheim was originally built for testing Mercedes cars and the atmosphere is tremendous, especially when German drivers are doing well. The circuit has hosted the German Grand Prix every year since 1986.

24th HUNGARIAN - HUNGARORING
Course Details Circuit length: 3.968 km No of laps: 77 Race distance: 305.536 km
Lap record: Rubens Barrichello, Ferrari, 2002, 1min 16.207

History The Hungaroring held its first Grand Prix in 1986 and has since been ever-present on the Formula One calendar.

The circuit is a modern complex and facilities are good. But overtaking is difficult and this often turns the races into a procession.
